One of the first things folks often want to know about the town of Plain in Chelan County is why it’s called thus. Plain is called Plain because the early settlers who were Dunkards and belonged to the Church of the Brethren asked the post office to give their town a plain name. Clearly, someone in the post office at that time had taken the request too literally, but the name stuck and this unincorporated community has been known as such ever since.
